Reflections on painting

A long time ago I heard a speech of an artist, his words made a strong impression on me. Later I found his works at an art exhibition, those were weak and boring pictures.
After this incident when I wanted to say something, a feeling that the level of my work does not correspond with the level of my thoughts, stopped me.
I began to put down my reflections only when I was sure that my paintings were adequate to my thoughts. In my inside there appeared the equality between my thoughts and my paintings. I am them, my pictures, and they are me.
My painting is not of a commercial nature. Standing at the canvas, of course, I take care that my creative work would not depend upon the sale of the paintings.
Half a century with a brush in my hand
Born in 1946, Brest, Belarus. The painter received his training in the Art College and in the Musical College. At the beginning of his art career he created monumental works - mosaics, frescoes, scratchwork, gobelins as well as oil paintings. Since 1994 he has been engaged in painting alone. Exhibitions: Russia, Germany, Poland, Belarus. Individual exhibitions: Germany, Poland. His works are in the State Museum, in private collections in EU, Great Britain, USA, Switzerland. The artist Anatoli Gostev left this world on January 15, 2022, leaving beauty and a blessed memory behind him.
